Ragnar Glamp — Design Hotel in Milzkalne

Two design cabins in the Milzkalne countryside — next to a working farm, near a ski slope, with a sauna, hot tubs, and a rare wicker studio down the lane.

Ragnar Glamp — Design Hotel in Milzkalne

The Mood

Milzkalne is a place with its own unhurried character. The landscape here is open and rural — fields, a gentle hill, an animal farm next door with sheep moving slowly and ostriches keeping their own counsel. Ragnar Glamp has settled into this setting with care: two cabins built from natural materials, full of light, and designed to let the countryside in without compromise.

The Experience

Milzkalne offers two distinct houses — Forest and Lux — each one handcrafted and fitted with considered detail. The farm beside the property creates an unusual and particular atmosphere: you might take your coffee to the terrace and find yourself watching a ewe and her lamb, or a group of ostriches doing something inscrutable in their enclosure.

Beyond the cabins themselves, Milzkalne holds two further draws. The rural sauna and hot tubs — bookable in advance — offer a genuine recovery after a day on the nearby ski slopes or a long walk through the fields. And Latvia’s only large-scale wicker growing and weaving studio is here: a rare glimpse into an ancient craft, with handmade pieces available to take home.

What to Expect

The farm next door: Sheep, varied birds, and exotic ostriches — a genuine rural setting that gives the stay its own character.

Considered design: Both houses use natural oak, wide windows, and high-quality materials throughout. Generous, light-filled, and restful.

Recovery: A traditional rural sauna and two styles of hot tub available on request — suited to slow evenings or celebration alike.

The wicker studio: Latvia’s only large-scale wicker cultivation and weaving studio — a rare encounter with traditional craft.

Wilderio tip: Visit the Milzkalne ski slope in winter for a full day outdoors, or follow the quieter paths in warmer months on foot or by bicycle. The countryside here is best experienced slowly.
